Testing boundaries while the guard stands ready

The power grabs happening in DC right now are getting so blatant it’s honestly unreal. The President controls the DC National Guard, so technically he can put armed soldiers on the streets “legally” - but only for 30 days unless Congress signs off, and with the Senate locked in gridlock there’s no chance of that happening. He declared an emergency to make it all stick, but the supposed “emergency” is paper-thin, and there’s barely any real justification for bringing in troops at all. It just feels like a show of force, flexing for the cameras and testing how much we’ll let them get away with. I can’t shake the suspicion this is a setup for something worse, maybe even a dry run for arresting politicians who don’t fall in line or just scaring the public into accepting more and more security for the people at the top. They’re clearly seeing how much we’ll tolerate before anyone fights back. With the midterms being engineered for maximum outrage, it’s painfully obvious they’re angling for total control. Honestly, it wouldn’t shock me if Trump tries to hand the presidency to one of his kids or if those Project 2025 types just pick their own leader and shove them into power while everyone’s too intimidated to push back. The whole vibe in DC right now is just one big “dare you to stop us.”
