Stupidity wins while truth keeps losing

I swear, every year it feels like the American public just gets dumber. We’re not just past the “No Child Left Behind” era - at this point, it’s like we left the whole country behind. Did you see New York magazine’s recent cover story, “The Stupiding of the American Mind”? I honestly want to frame it, because it sums up exactly where we are. We literally watched this country vote, not once but twice, for Donald Trump - a guy who’s a convicted felon, a six-time bankrupt “businessman,” and a reality TV sideshow - over someone like Kamala Harris, who actually put in the work as California’s attorney general and as a senator. She pulled herself up, is smart as hell, but apparently that’s less important than whether she laughs funny or, God forbid, isn’t white enough for some voters. Meanwhile, Fox News might as well be running the Pentagon these days. Gone are the days when someone had to go on TV holding up fake vials to drag us into a war - now, if Tucker Carlson gives the nod, people just fall in line. We’ve already wasted countless lives and trillions of dollars chasing after oil, a resource that’s rapidly losing value, but somehow folks are still lining up for more of the same. “Die for oil, sucker!” is still the playlist, and it’s like nobody’s learned a damn thing.
