Streaming gets weird when bands aren’t real

AI-generated music is honestly wild to me. There are websites now where you just type in whatever prompt you want, pick a genre, and the AI spits out a whole song for you right there - lyrics, music, everything. I even messed around with one that lets you upload a metal song and it’ll automatically turn it into jazz. It’s kind of like that Richard Cheese lounge act vibe, but with none of the actual charm, and after a few tries the novelty wears off super fast. But here’s the part that really blows my mind: there are “bands” on Spotify and other streaming sites pulling in millions of listens, but the singers, the faces, even the band names are totally made up by AI. None of it is real, just a bunch of algorithms stitching together fake personas and songs. It feels so dystopian, like we’ve gone straight past parody and ended up in some weird Black Mirror episode. I get the appeal as a one-off joke or a way to mess around, but I seriously hope people aren’t out here trying to make a legit music career out of this stuff.
